Terms of Service

Last updated: 30 September 2026

1. Who you are contracting with

These terms are between you and Class4 Ltd, trading as BookBand.co.uk ("we", "us"), the operator of the BookBand service at bookband.co.uk. By using BookBand you agree to these terms. If you use the service on behalf of a school or organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation.

2. The service

BookBand is an AI-assisted tool that suggests UK book banding levels, reading ages, year groups, themes and content notes for children's books, and helps you discover similar titles. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service within your plan.

3. AI-generated content

Suggestions are generated by AI and may be inaccurate or incomplete. They are provided to support — not replace — professional judgement. You are responsible for checking any suggestion before relying on it, for how you use the outputs, and for ensuring you have the right to enter any content you submit. You must not use the service to generate unlawful, harmful or infringing content, or to attempt to circumvent its safeguards. We may remove or restrict content, refuse outputs, or suspend accounts that breach these rules. Rights holders who believe content infringes their rights can contact us at info@class4.co.uk.

4. Accounts

Keep your sign-in credentials confidential; you are responsible for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

5. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the service unlawfully, or for fraud or spam;
  • infringe anyone's intellectual property rights;
  • interfere with the service's security, probe it, or scrape it at scale;
  • reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the service;
  • circumvent usage limits or other technical restrictions.

6. Subscriptions and payment

Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly and start with a 7-day free trial. You can cancel anytime and keep access until the end of the paid period.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms.

7. Intellectual property

We own the service and its intellectual property (software, branding, documentation). Book metadata and cover images remain the property of their respective owners.

8. Service level

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The service is provided "as is" and we disclaim implied warranties (including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose) to the fullest extent permitted by law.

9. Liability

We are not liable for indirect, consequential or special damages (including loss of profits, data or goodwill). Our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious violations of these terms. When your access ends, your library data may be deleted after a reasonable period.

11. General

You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or acquisition. We are not responsible for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
